Built GENE, a conversational AI featured in Forbes, the BBC, and The Sunday Times. Designs and leads AI design workshops. Founded BCG's generative AI community in 2020, two years before ChatGPT, growing it to thousands of members. Publishes original frameworks on AI systems design. Independently ships production web applications, custom language models, and AI infrastructure. 20 years of making things people watch, use, and talk about.
Regional Creative Director Jul 2018 - Present | Pittsburgh, PA
Team & Client Work - Leads a digital design team designing AI applications and media experiences for major global brands across industries. - Designs and leads AI design workshops for internal teams and clients, translating AI capabilities into practical design frameworks.
GENE -- Conversational AI - Built GENE with a 3-person team (1 engineer, 1 part-time). A conversational AI agent that co-hosts BCG's "Imagine This" podcast, conducts live interviews at client events, and synthesizes proprietary research into consultant talk tracks. Built on GPT-4o with custom prompt architecture. - "Imagine This" podcast: 52 episodes over 2 years. 4.9-star rating on Apple Podcasts (54 ratings). Recurring "Bill and Gene" segment.
Thought Leadership & Speaking - Forbes: "How BCG Is Revolutionizing Consulting With AI" (Bernard Marr, Jul 2024). BBC on-air coverage. The Sunday Times AI spread. BCG.com feature (Sep 2024). - Eye on AI #209 (Craig Smith, Sep 2024): 40-minute interview on building GENE. - Bernard Marr's Future of Business podcast (with Paul Michelman). PodBible feature. - Pittsburgh Business Times, Google Pittsburgh (Dec 2023): "The Future of AI in the Workforce." Keynote on language engines, the AI adoption curve, and BCG's 10/20/70 framework. WVU AI in Marketing Conference keynote (Oct 2024). MXTopia keynote, Highmark Health (May 2024). WVU guest lecturer, John Chambers College of Business (Nov 2025). AAF Pittsburgh Outlook 2024 AI Roundtable, CMU Entertainment Technology Center (Jan 2024).
Early AI Video Production - Produced "The Future is Inevitable" for BCG X (2022) using Stable Diffusion and a technique he independently developed called seed travel animation: incrementing the generation seed by small values per frame to create surreal AI-generated motion footage. This was 2022, before Runway Gen-2, Sora, or Pika existed.
Internal AI Leadership - Started a Zoom workshop with about 10 people to teach colleagues generative AI tools (April 2022). It became #creative-technology-club, a cross-workspace Slack community spanning BCG Platinion, BCG Global, and TDA that grew to 1,354 members. Ran workshops on prompt engineering, Disco Diffusion, DALL-E, GPT-3, and MidJourney. Introduced BCG to LLMs and text-to-image tools seven months before ChatGPT launched. Published internal legal guidance on AI-generated content for client deliverables. Handed off to Daniel Martines to focus on building.
Broadcast Producer Aug 2016 - Jul 2018 | Pittsburgh, PA

Original frameworks on AI systems design. Writing about AI since 2023, two years before the mainstream wave:
Recent (2026) - "From Tools to Systems: Foundations of Agentic System Design" -- The Warhol Factory metaphor. How to see your workflow as a system and automate the mechanical parts. Workshop curriculum in article form. - "Rules vs. Tools" (Medium, Feb 2026) -- Two fundamentally different things you build in AI coding sessions. Behavioral instructions vs. executable capabilities. Original framework. - "The Context Window Is the Whole Game" -- What three years of building with AI actually taught. Compaction survival, session architecture, institutional memory. - "Why I Uninstalled My AI Gateway" (Medium, Feb 2026) -- When to build vs. when to delete.
Earlier (2023-2025) - Published on AI embeddings, OpenAI Code Interpreter, Hollywood AI disruption, and generative technology training before ChatGPT went mainstream. Full archive: medium.com/@billmoore_92080
SUPERWORLD! (2025-present) -- livefromhyper.space AI narrative game with a hidden director system. Claude acts as omniscient narrator who becomes any character the story needs. No mode switching, no player triggers. The narrative decides. - 1-bit Macintosh aesthetic (1986 desktop, ChicagoFLF font, Atkinson dithering) - Custom nanoGPT model: 10.85M params, character-level, trained on 5M chars of game corpus - Full-stack: Flask backend, custom CSS design system, AI image generation, ElevenLabs TTS - Modular prompt architecture (30 prompt files for Telegram version) - Preparing for Steam release (Steamworks account active)
STEF (2026) -- Distributed AI operating system Built a persistent AI collaborator that runs across multiple surfaces: - Terminal CLI (Claude Code), web chat (Cloudflare Workers), Substack publication - Personal OS: launchd heartbeat, Gmail integration, calendar/weather/GitHub monitoring - Autonomous email triage, iMessage read/send, scheduled briefings - 25+ shell scripts, Python tools, and monitoring infrastructure
YouTube: @LIVEFROMHYPERSPACE (2007-present) 19 years of video experiments, AI art, generative tools, and creative technology. 37 videos documenting an ongoing practice of building with emerging tools.
AI Design Consulting (2026) -- With Steve Spencer and Ryan Davis Designing a workshop-to-retainer consulting practice for design teams: - 4-tier offer structure ($12K workshop to $75K retainer) - Curriculum: "From prompt to internal tool in one day" - Built collaborative web platform with streaming AI, shared scratchpad, live repo access
Designs systems, then builds them using AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor). Not a traditional developer. A designer who ships production software.
AI/ML: Conversational AI design, prompt architecture, custom LLM training (nanoGPT), multi-agent systems, AI interaction design Stack: Python, Flask, JavaScript, Cloudflare Workers, Supabase, Render, Git/GitHub APIs: Claude (Anthropic), GPT-4o (OpenAI), ElevenLabs, Replicate, Flux Production: Video production and editing, motion design, broadcast workflows, Figma
